We bring together experience in community organising, facilitation, culture, systems thinking, and place-based development. What unites us is a deep commitment to places and a belief in working with care, integrity, and long-term responsibility.

Who We Are
Emma Butterworth
NETWORK & STRATEGYEmma is a strategist, facilitator and regenerative systems change practitioner with 18 years’ experience helping organisations and communities turn complex ideas into clear, practical action. She has worked across sectors and organisational cultures, supporting transformation, collaboration and meaningful change.
Alongside her consultancy background, Emma holds a Master’s Degree in Regenerative Economics from University of Plymouth and Schumacher College, and is an Art of Hosting practitioner. Her work is rooted in participatory, community-led approaches that build trust, unlock collective insight and create lasting systems change.
Huda Javed
Communications & EngagementHuda joined This Living Place in 2025 through a partnership with the Youth Environmental Service
With hands-on experience in community-led food and energy projects, Huda brings a deep interest in environmental justice, grassroots movement building and participatory engagement.
She is particularly interested in how storytelling and creative facilitation can help connect people with land, place and heritage. Huda lives in Dorset.
Laura Tyley
founding directorLaura Tyley has spent the past decade working with grassroots organisations at local, national and international levels, building community-led, systemic responses to social, environmental and economic challenges.
Her work connects big-picture systems thinking with hyperlocal action. She has worked on hundreds of community-led initiatives, engaging thousands of people and contributing to growing movements rooted in place, connection and collective action.
Over the past two years, she has built This Living Place from the ground up, developing practical and innovative ways for communities to organise, collaborate and shape their own futures.
Daisy Turner
Community food resilienceWith a background in social science and environmental agriculture, Daisy offers first-hand expertise in the food production and retail industries. She is a dedicated systems thinker focused on developing and improving equitable supply chains that benefit both consumers and small-scale, regenerative food producers.
Her work at This Living Place, which she joined in 2026 through a partnership with Youth Environmental Service, focuses on working with community food projects in Somerset and driving regenerative change.
